Receipts, Proof, Timelines, & Screenshots: Why I'm Qualified for a Substack
The rest is still unwritten!!!
I know what you’re thinking, not another Carrie Bradshaw wannabe! I’m here to give you the RPTS on why a Substack is a natural next step for me, and I’m PUMPED to tell you more.
RECEIPTS: My biggest receipt of qualification is probably my tuition and Bachelor’s Degree from Miami University because I actually minored in Professional Writing. The writing classes were hands down my favorite in school, and easily the classes I excelled in the most.
PROOF: Your girl has been “blogging” ever since I had access to a computer. It started out with Microsoft Paint where I would make by daily diaries on there. Eventually, I moved on to Microsoft Word where I’d type up stories, print them out, cut the paragraphs, and put them into scrapbooks with photos to tell the story more deeply.
TIMELINES: It goes WAY back — KFC used to have this kid’s meal called “the laptop” where you would get popcorn chicken & two sides in a box that looked like a laptop. After I was done eating, I would take this box and draw an actual keyboard and computer screen on it and play pretend writer. Like, full on Jenna Rink, big time magazine editor. Fast forward to college, I wrote for a blog for YEARS and did some of my favorite work ever, and eventually, ended up making a career for myself at publications like Rolling Stone and POPSUGAR writing marketing proposals for a living.
SCREENSHOTS: You’ve all seen my Instagram Stories, text-heavy posts are my jam. Now that I have THIS avenue, I’ll have an even better opportunity to write about everything under the sun for you all, and hopefully make my Instagram Stories a little less wordy.
The moral of the story is: I love writing, I have a LOT to blab about, and this way feels so natural to me. I’m SO happy you’re here, I can’t wait to let the words flow!
